Taking early registrations

The paperwork is in and BAM Jam is ready to get back to the streets in 2009. The next BAM Jam will be on August 7-8 in downtown Boise. If you would like to get on an "early" registration list, send an email to service@idahoselect.org with your team captains contact info and the bracket that you think you may want to play in. It does not cost you any money but it will get you on a list that will keep you up to date on everything BAM Jam related.

The Bracketing has begun!

We have begun the bracketing process and have started to post them online as they become available. Please keep in mind that these brackets are tentative and subject to change. Your final brackets will be given to you at Team Check-in on Thursday and Friday. Team Check-in at Old Chicago downtown is mandatory!

To view the brackets, visit the following web page: www.idahoselect.org/brackets.shtml. This is a work in progress and all brackets will be added as they become available. Please be patient with us; our staff is volunteering their time which means they have a real job that pays the bills during the day!

All teams will be receiving an email with their team numbers. You must have this number at team check-in to get your final bracket, tshirts and BAM Jam registration package.

Also, a big thanks to all the volunteers that helped us assemble baskets last night and to Bruneel Tire for letting us use some of their space!

Game Brackets and Check in at Old Chicago

We are finalizing the brackets tonight and will send an email to your team Wednesday with details on how to check your team in. Thanks to Old Chicago downtown Boise, we have a great location for all teams to check in and get their registration packets. Check in will begin on Thursday from 4-8 pm and will finish up on Friday from 11am-2pm. Check in is required by all teams; only the team captains need to be there but the entire team is welcome to come in and grab a drink and some food.

Plus, on Thursday, Caves and Prater from KTIK will be broadcasting live from Old Chicago. If you have never seen a live radio broadcast, you won't want to miss this one. Old Chicago is located at 730 W. Idaho Street in downtown Boise. There is parking right across the street and is free for the first hour.

Attention: no talent required

Some questions we've been getting a lot of lately is do you have a division for 40 year olds? Or, do you have a division for out of shape guys that aren't very good? Or even, do you have a bracket for people that used to play but haven't touched a ball in two years?

The answer is simply, yes. We have to or we wouldn't have a place to play! When we set up the brackets, our goal is match up teams as equally as possible. So if there are teams that are of a similar age, ability, or several other variables on the registration, we'll do our best to get you in there. As the BCS has proven, no system is perfect. But we'll do what we can to match you up appropriately.

Attention: talent coming

It looks like BAM Jam is going to host some serious talent this year as defending Hoopfest champions, Green Mountain Construction, will be competing in the elite bracket. Check the article from the Spokesman-Review.

The champs, with Chris Allen shown here, will have to hold off fellow Hoopfest final four team, Bodybuilding dot com.

Who will take the championship? Will an unknown sneak up and snatch the title? Who knows, but this one is going to be fun!

Learning from the best

What a weekend! The Spokane Hoopfest was a blast with 6,400 teams and 25,000 competitors taking over the Washington city. The BAM Jam staff was let inside the ropes as we got to see the entire event from behind the scenes as the Hoopfest staff took care of us and showed us the ins and outs of putting on a major 3 on 3 event.

And the ball was great too. Of the 6,400 teams, 3 teams from the Treasure Valley finished in the top 8 with Green Mountain Construction winning the whole thing! I guess Idaho players do have game.

So now it's the Treasure Valley's turn to show that we can host a premium event as well. We sat down with Center Court sponsor Idaho Trust earlier this week and they are going to turn that thing into an amazing featured court. We can't wait to see the finished product.

Really, all of our sponsors have been doing the little extra things. The BoDo team had some great suggestions and the LeMaster Daniels Fun Zone should give a little something extra to those that want to try something new. It is the support like this that's reminds us why we live in such a great community.

Welcome to BAM Jam!

This August 8-9, downtown Boise will be the location of BAM Jam, a charity 3 on 3 basketball tournament that will donate all proceeds to some great non-profit organizations. As a non-profit undertaking itself, BAM Jam has been fortunate enough to have the support of sponsors like: Men Today Men Tomorrow, Drake Cooper and Idaho Trust Bank to name a few. The BAM Jam staff has been planning this event for over a year and dreaming about it for nearly 6 years.

This truly is "B-ball for all." While there will be the standard elite brackets for those players that are still performing at their peak, there are also brackets for players like myself; out of shape and in need of some kind of exercise that won't kill me (this is only half court after all). And of course, there are brackets for everyone in between.

More than anything, BAM Jam is a family friendly event that will bring together the community in a unique setting and help out some great causes. We encourage you to participate in any way that you can by either playing, sponsoring or volunteering your time. See you there!
