<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">For the past 8 years BAM Jam has been a co-ed event that welcomes
participants of all ages and abilities, making it an ideal opportunity to get the whole
family involved. The Allen and Sailors families have taken full advantage of
this opportunity as both Chris Allen and Leah Sailors compete every year with
their families. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">For the Allens, Chris’s brother, Corey, comes to town from
Spokane to take part in the tournament, and his wife and children also often
compete in their respective age groups. With the Sailors, Leah competes on the
women’s side and also has children who participate. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">We had the pleasure of speaking with Chris and Leah about
their BAM Jam experiences and learn more about the basketball families!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Chris annually competes in 3 on 3 tournaments all over the
northwest. In his opinion, BAM Jam is tied with Spokane’s <i>Hoopfest </i>as his favorite due to its “family oriented feel and
atmosphere” as well as the high level of organization. The family feel does not
take away from the talent that is present at the BAM Jam tournaments, as Boise is
home to some of the best 3 on 3 competitors in the region. A great example
comes from 2008 when Boise teams accounted for three of the teams in the Elite
8 at Hoopfest, which is the biggest 3 on 3 tournament in the world. It’s
impossible to deny that “the 208 has some hoopers”. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Leah first got involved with BAM Jam by invitation of one of
her City League teammates and has been a force to be reckoned with ever since,
winning multiple summer and spring tourneys. She has also been a pivotal part
of recruiting more women to participate each year, which has not been a simple
task. Every year circumstances change that effect women’s participation. “Women
get married, have children and they usually have to take a couple years off
from playing to take care of their kids. Some girls never end up coming back.”
These factors affect Leah’s team every year, but she remains a constant
competitor.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Both Leah and Chris have kids that participate in BAM Jam as
well, which is a blessing and a curse of sorts for Leah. “Watching my kids play
is way more stressful for me because I feel helpless coaching and yelling from
the sidelines compared to playing and being able to have more control.” Leah
states, “but it's definitely worth it because I love watching my [two] girls
play and learn the game and improve.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Chris enjoys watching his sons participate and is “thankful
to have kids to pass the torch to.” His two boys definitely have their dad’s
competitive spirit, though he’s pretty certain that he still has them beat.
Says Chris, “I’m one of the most competitive people on the planet but my boys
run a close second and third.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam has provided a great opportunity for Chris and Leah
to get together with family over the summer. Chris and his brother have been playing
side by side for about 25 years and have experienced countless victories and
defeats together. The outcome has never been the important part to Chris as he
genuinely enjoys competing alongside Corey, stating that when he competes in
tournaments alone it’s never quite the same. He even goes as far as to play in
two separate brackets every year so that he can compete with his 6-foot and
over elite team and with his brother in the 6 foot under elite. Their whole
family makes the trip from Spokane to Boise to watch the 3-on-3 tournament, though
lately it seems that the kids have stolen the show. “They (family) don't watch
me or my brother anymore, they come down to watch my boys and I am definitely
ok with that.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam is the perfect venue for the Allen and Sailors
families to get together and enjoy each other.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">What about you? Do you compete or come to watch your family play? </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">"Trust is built with consistency." --Lincoln Chafee<br /><br />When brackets are released each summer and spring, we often get the questions, “How were teams seeded?”, “Why does this team get a first round bye?”, “Why is there so much time between games?” and more. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSN0JeF5NJBGs7lLMfZI8vvmGEK_LnAr6KVXTLIKMbGEh3SfS91DPsiCgO-kXDvhtFZvUAz6GZ7wA99yCYxXjCw1_XNwmy6XJV-w1PLJt9_lFiVclzL99eL1gSnqXziEn2WeE0We5ReO0/s1600/bracketing.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSN0JeF5NJBGs7lLMfZI8vvmGEK_LnAr6KVXTLIKMbGEh3SfS91DPsiCgO-kXDvhtFZvUAz6GZ7wA99yCYxXjCw1_XNwmy6XJV-w1PLJt9_lFiVclzL99eL1gSnqXziEn2WeE0We5ReO0/s1600/bracketing.png" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />After running 15+ large scale tournaments, we’ve learned a few things about logistics, game mapping and more. At this point in BAM Jam’s history, the teams have played before and keep coming back have learned to trust our judgement and believe we are doing the best we can for their experience.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: large;">If this is your first time at BAM Jam, we are so glad you are joining us! Our goal is that when the tournament is completed you will have had a great time and be looking forward to the next tourney! <br /><br />Find out how and why the BAM Jam brackets look the way that they do. </span><br />
<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">The Bracketing Basics</span></h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Let's begin with the basics. All teams are placed in a bracket or, in some cases, in a pool that will eventually lead to a bracket. Those brackets (and pools) are <a href="https://bamjamboise.com/play/brackets-and-map/">posted here</a> before the tournament when they are completed. </span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Bracketing starts with the information we are provided by teams. Information like age, grade, gender, experience and for some brackets whether they want to be in the recreational, competitive or elite. At the end of the day, bracketing is based on the honor system and enforced by the teams playing.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">For more details, <a href="https://bamjamboise.com/play/tournament-info/">click here</a> and scroll down the page to the "Brackets". It breaks down further how teams are separated in to their brackets.</span></div>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">How are teams seeded in their bracket, why do some teams get a first round bye and why do some divisions start with pool play?</span></h2>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">Unless there are a perfect 8 or 16 teams in a bracket, there will be some teams that have a first round bye and it may appear that the teams were seeded.</span></div>
<h2>
Who is seeded and who isn't?</h2>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">The only divisions that are actually seeded are the elite divisions. All other divisions, including youth, recreational and competitive are not ranked. </span></div>
<h2>
Random draws for bracket position</h2>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">For most divisions where teams are not ranked, teams are randomly placed in the available slots. So a bracket that has 7 teams will have 1 team that gets a first round bye. This is simply randomly selected so that there is no bias in the process.</span></div>
<h2>
What about pool play</h2>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">For divisions that only have 4 teams, we will generally start out with pool play so that teams get a chance to play all of their guaranteed games while not having to play the same team over and over. Even though you will occasionally see this with larger elite divisions, this is typically reserved for the 4 team non-elite divisions.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Determining the time between games</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">In an ideal bracket world, there would be no back to back games and teams would be able to play their games about 2 hours apart; enough to get rested but not enough to get bored. However, there are a lot of other factors that contribute to the time between games.</span></div>
<h2>
Winners bracket vs. losers bracket</h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">The first thing to consider is did you win or did you lose your last game. If you won your last game then you are probably waiting on another team to win a game. Or you may be waiting for them to get through the losers bracket to play you. The more teams there are, the longer the wait could be.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;">On the other hand, if you end up in the losers bracket, to win the championship there is a very good chance that you will have to play some games back to back. We avoid that where ever possible but in the losers bracket you are going to have to battle hard if you want the championship.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<h2>
Multiple brackets on the same court</h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Another factor is that for some brackets where there aren't as many teams, the brackets may be sharing a court. This one probably isn't as obvious since you won't see it on your own bracket. But a quick check at the master scoreboard can show you whether your bracket is alone or sharing time. With limited baskets and limited court monitors, there isn't much that can be done about that.</span></div>
<h2>
And speaking of court monitors...</h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The court monitor on your court is a volunteer and is giving up their entire weekend to make the event better and help you out. But we want to make sure they aren't overwhelmed. So we are careful to build in breaks for all the courts so that they can get off their feet, get something to eat, get something to drink and even check out parts of the tournament. It's a pretty thankless job and we respect them too much to not give them the breaks they need. </span></div>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">There's the story behind the brackets</span></h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">As most players can see, there are multiple variables that play in to how brackets are created each tournament. We hope that you know we always do the best that we can to make sure the experience you have is the best possible.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Here are 5 great reasons why you should consider putting a team together.</span><br />

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px;">

Celebrate Basketball</h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="image-center" data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">OK, this one was obvious. Clearly if you are considering playing in a 3 on 3 tournament then you must love the game. BAM Jam was created to bring a celebration of basketball to the streets of Boise, Idaho. </span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">For two days you get to play games, watch games, talk hoops and absolutely soak up as much basketball as you can handle!</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px;">

<h2 class="image-center" style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin: 0px auto; text-align: center;">
Stay Fit</h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="image-center" data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Each team is guaranteed at least 3 games in the summer BAM Jam. That means plenty of opportunity to get in some exercise. You could go to the gym or get out and go for a run, but basketball offers a chance to get and stay fit in so many different ways. It will challenge your strength, endurance, quickness and mental toughness. </span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We all love to hang out with our friends. Especially when we get to hang with them while doing something fun.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam is the perfect chance for friends and family to get together and have a great time. Is there anything better on Monday morning than having a great weekend story to tell? Teams at BAM Jam always leave the tournament with some great memories and stories. No matter how the tournament goes, you always have your friends!</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam gives players and fans the ultimate streetball experience. In adition to "Hoop City" on the streets of downtown Boise, the tournament is located next to Capitol Park and the Idaho Capitol Building, home of the Powerade Slam Dunk Championship.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In addition to every court having its own Court Monitor, almost every court has significant shade provided by all the trees in the city. It's not an accident that the city's nick name is "The City of Trees". </span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">With over 10,000 people coming to watch the tournament, you'll definitely get the feel of a huge event but with plenty of room to move around. The BAM Jam environment is like nothing else.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; line-height: 36px;">

<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">
<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam is more than just your chance to play some 3 on 3. During the tournament, players and fans get a chance to watch the Powerade Slam Dunk Championship and anyone can try and qualify for the finals of the 3-Point Challenge. </span></div>
<div data-mce-style="font-size: 30px; line-height: 120%;" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 36px;">

<span style="font-size: large;">All day long there are Elite games being played on the College of Western Idaho Center Court, featuring the players in the tournament. </span></div>

For teams that want to go deep in to their brackets, being in shape, both from a stamina and strength perspective, will prove to be very beneficial.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu6tL-gg3sBwKJPl8Opd8PPk1BTjdLdXXZTOpckrFDE6VfE6jA_w8iISU4YE3iB5QjhB7GSLatbPK-lHZ_BrtNBMT22oq4qn05j0tmK0JkBmvr5Y88flQDrSA3DnCYSOCgPgCRchY83bo/s1600/3-week-training-plan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="3 week basketball training plan" border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu6tL-gg3sBwKJPl8Opd8PPk1BTjdLdXXZTOpckrFDE6VfE6jA_w8iISU4YE3iB5QjhB7GSLatbPK-lHZ_BrtNBMT22oq4qn05j0tmK0JkBmvr5Y88flQDrSA3DnCYSOCgPgCRchY83bo/s320/3-week-training-plan.jpg" title="" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Adding in high intensity ball handling is a great way to build your strength, endurance and skills.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Here is a simple 3 week workout program that you can do from your home and doesn't require any special equipment other then a pair of shoes and a basketball and the willingness to contribute 2-3 30 minute sessions per week.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"></span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">*Here's your medical warning: do not try any of this before consulting your doctor to make sure you are in good enough physical condition to try this.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">While the plan is simple, its success comes down to how hard you are willing to work at it. The results you see directly relate to the effort you put in.</span><br />
<h3>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The Tabata</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Tabata training was discovered by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. Basically, it is a form of High Intensity Interval Training. It is 8 rounds of a given exercise where you go as hard as you can for 20 seconds and then rest 10 seconds (a total of 4 minutes). It has been shown to <a href="http://www.active.com/fitness/articles/what-is-tabata-training" target="_blank">improve both your aerobic and anaerobic systems</a> in less time then traditional longer 1-hour medium intensity workouts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The exercises can be anything from sit ups, push ups, squats, burpees or even high intensity ball handing drills like stationary two ball dribbling. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Want a more intense Tabata workout (<b>you did check with your doctor first, right</b>)? String 4 of these Tabata sessions together with different exercises for 16 minutes of work.</span><br />
<h3>
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The Mix It Up</span></h3>
<span style="font-size: large;">There is really no reason a basketball player needs to train to run long distances. Most studies will show you that players that play the most minutes in a game only run 3-5 miles. For BAM Jam in a half court setting that number is even less.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">But, quick bursts and short distances are required. So is the ability to set a strong screen, roll laterally, fight through a screen and grab a rebound over someone else. To be ready for anything, mix in different strength and conditioning exercises to single workout.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's an example, scale it back as needed:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Complete 4 Rounds As Fast As You Can (or stop at 15 minutes)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">100m sprint</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10 push push ups</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10 second handstand hold</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10 R/L lounges (5 each leg)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WxnfyPL8PCM" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a workout that can also interchange the exercises. Try using burpees in place of push ups, wall walks in place of the handstand hold and air squats in place of the lounges.</span><br />
<h3>
<span style="font-size: large;">The Schedule</span></h3>
<span style="font-size: large;">Alternate The Tabata and The Mix It Up for each day you are doing them. If you are doing 2 sessions per week, you will do a total of 6 sessions. If you are doing 3 sessions per week, you will do a total of 9 sessions. If at any point you feel faint, sick or just uncommonly bad for this type of workout, stop! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Before you start each session, make sure you thoroughly warm up each body part you are about to use. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">When you are done with your sessions, make sure you cool yourself down. Let your heart rate come back to normal, do some easy stretching and be sure you hydrate. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
*Medical warning: do not try any of these exercises unless your doctor has cleared you for vigorous and intense physical activity.BAM Jam Basketballhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01848093222992078408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6546859477747209802.post-11547220095578304682016-02-10T10:56:00.000-07:002016-02-10T11:06:56.614-07:00Can you "PLAY ALL DAY"?<span style="font-size: large;">BAM Jam is about having fun days, playing a great game and doing it with music and entertainment. Which leads us in to this spring's theme "Play All Day". </span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo3qkTiVL20ZGmtC0jTOqcU3dH3mRLQqNjVyYRqjCQDYtd4VIPKJtCKD-zgxKGT4W6wKk3bcT1M1apEC3o9eimSEzzwqTZzN-kimL-G1o-MSk4-dsi6TdOtgw6GlZsASZUW-oNlqrzfeo/s1600/play-all-day-basketball.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="play all day" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo3qkTiVL20ZGmtC0jTOqcU3dH3mRLQqNjVyYRqjCQDYtd4VIPKJtCKD-zgxKGT4W6wKk3bcT1M1apEC3o9eimSEzzwqTZzN-kimL-G1o-MSk4-dsi6TdOtgw6GlZsASZUW-oNlqrzfeo/s1600/play-all-day-basketball.png" title="" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Play All Day" is this spring's theme</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: large;">"Play All Day" is a reference to the to fact that the more you win, the more games you get to play, ultimately meaning you could play all day.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">But there is also a music and entertainment component to this saying as well. Music is considered a huge part of almost every hooper's lifestyle. </span><span style="font-size: large;">Every year we partner with <a href="http://www.impactradiogroup.com/" target="_blank">Impact Radio Group</a> which provides everything from pop to rap to country to ESPN. This partnership just makes great sense!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">And of course there is no denying the old school Walkman look (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walkman" target="_blank">click here</a> if you aren't sure what a Walkman is). And there are lots of reasons to play. But have you considered how you can use 3 on 3 basketball to develop your all around game for future success?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here are four ways that 3 on 3 basketball develops players.</span><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Teaches you to react and make quick decisions. </span></b><br />
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">At BAM Jam, games are played to 20 or are done with a 25 minute max per game. That means you don't have a lot of time to mess around. Players that compete each spring and summer have learned out to quickly asses different situations, whether it is identifying a match up advantage, managing possessions toward the end of a game or adjusting to fatigue.</span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgb9n7A8-8dXSYL8n1Ihhf508991R9sSAF2lpMmsTXmabD2DqcmcWIViXLIi_FYn3skajLt2dfBK6PNgDAwkJynUVTPr37X48-ZkezNgPX7i6Mb2sqR8xAXAPfaCg-VQ2wHDMUqTzLRU/s1600/basketball-development.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img alt="3 on 3 basketball development" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgb9n7A8-8dXSYL8n1Ihhf508991R9sSAF2lpMmsTXmabD2DqcmcWIViXLIi_FYn3skajLt2dfBK6PNgDAwkJynUVTPr37X48-ZkezNgPX7i6Mb2sqR8xAXAPfaCg-VQ2wHDMUqTzLRU/s1600/basketball-development.jpg" title="" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">In 3 on 3 basketball, players are often isolated, requiring them to develop 1 on 1 skills and the ability to defend on the ball</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;"></span></b><br />
<a name='more'></a><b><span style="font-size: large;">Builds your individual skills.</span></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">With only 6 people in a half court, there is almost 50% more open space then in a traditional 5 on 5 game. A lot of times this puts players on an island by themselves. This is a great chance to work on your skills as an individual. Players will need to learn how to create their own shots, draw helpside defenders to them so they can kick out to an open teammate and how to play lock down defense on the ball. Offensively, players get a lot more touches then a 5 on 5 game. Defensively, man to man fundamentals have to be solid. Here's a link and a cool study on small surface development from the Steve Nash Youth Basketball blog. <a href="https://stevenashyb.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/snyb-original-comparing-analytics-of-cross-ice-hockey-and-3x3-basketball/" target="_blank">Click here</a>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Exposes areas that might need some work.</span></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">With only 3 players and, at most, 1 sub opposing teams are going to learn pretty quickly where you and your team's weaknesses are. Players often find themselves in strange and uncomfortable positions on defense or in situations where they are expected to make a play on offense. But from a developmental side, this is great information players can take away from BAM Jam and work on improving on their own. The next time they play, they will be ready.</span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgINRtuNpqbN1k8McVD-oPATPfCFCQggaZHAAXinVE7g1d9eLogtmF2u7zy4SjG1n3lSJ5ItnzEHzm4d-VDQs6cgvaTIVfBjgOViWQ2_DDauWcurmuzeNj0x8LEixte6teIgJOUC3aozsA/s1600/3-on-3-basketball-development.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img alt="3 on 3 basketball development" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgINRtuNpqbN1k8McVD-oPATPfCFCQggaZHAAXinVE7g1d9eLogtmF2u7zy4SjG1n3lSJ5ItnzEHzm4d-VDQs6cgvaTIVfBjgOViWQ2_DDauWcurmuzeNj0x8LEixte6teIgJOUC3aozsA/s1600/3-on-3-basketball-development.jpg" title="" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Playing 3 on 3 basketball in the streets forces players to develop their mental toughness</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Toughens up your mental approach.</span></b></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Most of the time, 3 on 3 games are "call your own foul" with no officials. In the heat of the summer, games might be played in 90 degree weather. And when you play in the streets, you'll always be playing on a surface that has some rough patches. But the best players embrace these challenges and take them as a chance to test out how tough they can be mentally. Didn't get a call you wanted? Play on. Getting thirsty? Play on. Ball took a weird bounce? Play on.</span></div>

With four players on your team, each player has a chance to fill a role. </span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">There are a lot of ways to put together your team but here is a balanced approach. Which player are you? Do you know any of these players? Get any four of them and your team is set.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW5hOIAuN4TWvg5yMs765oZcOEGleNHOrRA_t1HAHQnePHhW5-FPE9luo8iqwLTd_y2GV1GctKSQmvFqlhU2GxtPHjDpMoJ3mES3F6gweDWNyCrGqeWr-eoLf7QeGcANXgaz46hqkiB6o/s1600/balance-players.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW5hOIAuN4TWvg5yMs765oZcOEGleNHOrRA_t1HAHQnePHhW5-FPE9luo8iqwLTd_y2GV1GctKSQmvFqlhU2GxtPHjDpMoJ3mES3F6gweDWNyCrGqeWr-eoLf7QeGcANXgaz46hqkiB6o/s1600/balance-players.jpg" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Which player are you? Find the right balance for your team and you will find success.</i></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Neddy No Limit - BAM Jam is a game of 1s and 2s so the ability knock down the deep ball is more important then ever. That's why Neddy has a place in this game. Their specialty is the ability to knock down shots from way out. Neddy may not play a ton of defense but when they "find their rhythm" it is probably worth it. Especially when you're down 18-19 and you've got the ball.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Betty Breakdown - Let's face it, Neddy is out of a job if someone isn't getting him the ball. That's where Betty comes in. Betty can breakdown the defender off the dribble or off a ball screen and get to the paint. Now they can hit a wide open Neddy in the corner or finish off the drive with pull up jumper or lay in. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Sammy Situation - Missed lay ups and blown defensive assignments don't stop Sammy. Because Sammy is a gamer. When your team is down and out and needs a run or needs just one huge bucket at the end, Sammy delivers. And then you remember why you asked them to be on your team.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Alex All Around - Scoring? Nah. Dribbling? Nah? Alex just wants to play defense, dive on loose balls and grab rebounds. All without ever saying anything...unless provoked. Probably ends up being the teams MVP, though Alex may not score a basket all weekend.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Lineup Logan - It all starts with Logan. Literally. Logan is the team captain/manager/go to answer person. They are the one organizing the team, getting them registered, picking up the packets and making sure everyone is at their games on time. Logan may not get a ton of credit but somebody has to do it.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Who are we missing? Is there another persona that is the perfect asset to a team?</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Be sure to get your team registered before the deadline and before all spots are full. <a href="https://bamjamboise.com/play/" target="_blank">Click here</a> to register. </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Typically, the BAM Jam schedules will be out the Thursday before the tournament starts. We post it online and separate it by the bracket type and court.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">But the next question is usually "How do you create the schedule?"</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRn8-3Bn8UdUuxhTp2AkPAhSccE_imdE5HBTxCbvOfY38RiYrB-hGJcMyJFP6wzob64-TkYcVQj168TNLhWwBE5E1chGR5CQ6hK3Jtd3MEF6yNRCGwsHkqYCC5Ac-NBhsc4TvvlfSFf0M/s1600/tetris-schedule.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img alt="BAM Jam and Tetris have a lot in common" border="0" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRn8-3Bn8UdUuxhTp2AkPAhSccE_imdE5HBTxCbvOfY38RiYrB-hGJcMyJFP6wzob64-TkYcVQj168TNLhWwBE5E1chGR5CQ6hK3Jtd3MEF6yNRCGwsHkqYCC5Ac-NBhsc4TvvlfSFf0M/s320/tetris-schedule.png" title="" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Scheduling BAM Jam teams is a bit <br />like playing a game of Tetris</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;">Scheduling is kind of like a big puzzle with moving pieces and limited space and time. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Think Tetris. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The teams are the different shapes closing in on the bottom and you want to position them so that every piece of available space is being used. As the popularity of BAM Jam has grown, wasted space could mean an additional team that doesn't get to play. Maximizing our space and time is the key to delivering BBall for All. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Like Tetris, you barely know what is coming next and time is running out. The next team could be a fourth grade girls team or it could be a tenth grade boys team. It could be a team that is interchangeable with another bracket (such as men's 6'0 Under Competitive which usually has more then one bracket) or it could be a team that needs to combine with another division in order to have enough teams to play (such as combining 3rd and 4th graders).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">And while we do have some nice software to helps us in this process, misplacing one team can blow an entire bracket up, sending us back to square one (Tetris pun intended). </span><br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-UVCEhYdBgLQ9KbSwWXJUgOvyZXgzCDmPeIv6Mt2GDPQZ-qDlKVh5StlHz1xWQBgFBJryuQPNhMk9-0L3my0TwiaFFNtsdmSvkUZ-1OlK6ejUFnk_-WIlxVGRRrWu2i_8VZoXpC5XlY4/s1600/DSC_1973.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Like Tetris, we are shooting for no wasted space" border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-UVCEhYdBgLQ9KbSwWXJUgOvyZXgzCDmPeIv6Mt2GDPQZ-qDlKVh5StlHz1xWQBgFBJryuQPNhMk9-0L3my0TwiaFFNtsdmSvkUZ-1OlK6ejUFnk_-WIlxVGRRrWu2i_8VZoXpC5XlY4/s320/DSC_1973.JPG" title="" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The goal for bracketing: 100% accuracy</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />Our bracketing guru, Jon DeWolfe, has scheduled dozens of these tournaments. While he has really dialed in the process over the years, it still comes down to preparing for the deadline and then seeing who signs up. This is one more reason that teams signing up by the registration deadline is critical. Like Tetris, for us having a Plan A, B and C can help us be successful. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once teams are registered, Jon will look at the times that are available (this is determined largely by when we are allowed to start, when we have to be finished and by how many court monitors we have) and the number of teams in each division. That's when he starts to lay things out. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once a first draft is done, the brackets are reviewed by several people to make sure all registered teams have been accounted for and that there are no overlapping games. Court monitors need breaks and special event times have to be accounted for as well.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once tweaks are made and corrections are turned in, a second draft is prepared. This draft is also reviewed, corrected and tweaked. This process continues until the brackets are accurate. That is when they are made public. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The goal: creating 100% perfect brackets so teams can focus on having a great time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It can be a tedious process that requires patience and a "can do" attitude. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It is compiled of video and photos taken at the 2015 Spring BAM Jam from Capital High School. The music is the instrumental version of Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" with Christina Aguilera.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The idea was to give a quick wide shot of the tourney (which is tough to do when you're in two different locations), show few highlights and give a feel of what you can do when you aren't playing (like the spin wheel at the Treasure Valley Ford Stores Booth or watch the NCAA Tournament at the Northwestern Mutual Players Lounge).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">We'll probably cut a 30 second and 15 second version that will work on Twitter and Instagram. But obviously, feel free to share it now!</span><br />

But since so many people found it interesting, we've reposted with updates. </i></b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Last year, BAM Jam really dug in to understand our players better. We've taken a look at our brackets from 2011-2014, conducted a large survey, posted some online polls and reached out to talk with some of our BAM Jam players.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Our hope is that by better understanding who our players are, we will be able to do a better job serving your needs. And we intend to keep this going at our next BAM Jam tournament, presented by Treasure Valley Ford Stores, on March 19-20, 2016 at Capital High School in Boise, Idaho.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">As we compiled the information, we thought you might be interested in knowing who you are playing against and who you might be watching. We also included some things that you told us we should consider taking a closer look at.</span><br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
BAM Jam, presented by Treasure Valley Ford Stores, typically
features some of the most talented men's and women's players in the
northwest. Thanks to a centralized location with college programs of
all sizes located near by, it is no shock that players ranging from
community college to the professional level play in the tournament.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
There are far too
many players to list all of them with details so we've picked out a
few highlights and have listed them here.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Coby Karl –</b>
Karl is currently listed on the <b>Walking Buckets</b>
(6'0 Over Elite) roster along side former <b>Boise State
Broncos</b> <b>Rob Heyer</b>
and <b>Mark Sanchez</b> and
Boise State Assistant Coach <b>John Rillie (who played at
Gonzaga and is an Australian native)</b>.
Karl would be the <b>first NBA player to participate in BAM
Jam</b>. Karl played for the <b>Los
Angeles Lakers</b> during the
2007-08 season and also with the <b>Cleveland Cavaliers</b>
in 2009. This past season he played with the <b>Reno Bighorns</b>
in the NBA D-League. With Karl, Rillie and Sanchez the Walking
Buckets will have 3 professionals on their squad, the most of any
team this tournament.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Matt Bauscher</b> – The “do
everything” former Boise State Bronco is rumored to be considering
a come back at BAM Jam with Team <b>Muscle Pharm</b> in the Men's 6'0
Over Elite. Bauscher retired from professional basketball this past
year after a very successful run in Europe. The Muscle Pharm team
lost a key player about 2 weeks ago in <b>Booker Nabors</b>, who blew
out his Achilles while competing at the <b>USA Basketball 3 on 3
National Tournament</b> in Colorado Springs. Bauscher would make a
nice fill in and will definitely make Muscle Pharm a top contender.
The returning 3 players with Muscle Pharm, <b>Chris Allen</b>, <b>Kevin
Baker</b> and <b>Craig McGee</b>, were all on last spring and
summer's championship team and also did very well at the USA
Basketball 3 on 3 National Tournament this past July.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>Will Bogan</b> – Bogan was an all
state player and state champion at <b>Vallivue High School</b> in
Caldwell, Idaho before signing to play with <b>Ole Miss</b>. After
graduating in just 3 seasons with the Rebels, Bogan transferred to
<b>Valparaiso</b> where he started 62 of 68 games. He is playing for
<b>Unlimited Range</b> in the 6'0 Under Elite division. </div>

To quote long time BAM Jam champ Chris Allen, "When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you play good."</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
Allen would know, having won multiple summer and spring BAM Jam championships in the men's elite divisions.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
The way a player dresses for game day says a lot about who they are and how they play.</div>
<h2 style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
It's gotta be the shoes (or socks, or...)</h2>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
While shoes are at the core of a hooper's apparel, they are no longer the the only key element. Today's game goes beyond a player's shoe game. Socks, shorts, shoe laces, tights, shirts, head bands and arm sleeves all play in to the look. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<img alt="shoe game" data-mce-src="/media/9800/shoe-game.jpg" height="292" src="https://bamjamboise.com/media/9800/shoe-game.jpg" style="border: 0px;" width="560" /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
At BAM Jam you will see every brand you can think of in every style imaginable. Latest releases to retro, bright to classic and everything in between from toes to top. It is a great place to test your street ball fashion sense along with your jump shot.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<a data-mce-href="/{localLink:1054}" href="https://bamjamboise.com/play" title="Play">Click here</a> to view the registration page</div>
<h2 style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
Taking it to the next level</h2>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
While some might be content to put on the latest footwear, others like to take it up a notch. There has been an increased trend in head to toe coordination. Shoes match the socks. Socks match the shorts. Shorts match the shirt. We've even seen matched sunglasses and head bands.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<img alt="coordinate" data-mce-src="/media/9806/coordinate.jpg" height="292" src="https://bamjamboise.com/media/9806/coordinate.jpg" style="border: 0px;" width="558" /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
And then there's the question of brand loyalty vs. mismatch. Is it ok to wear Nike shoes with Adidas socks? Can Jordan Brand shorts be worn with a Derrick Rose shirt? </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
These are questions that will continue to be debated before, during and after the tournament.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<a data-mce-href="/{localLink:1054}" href="https://bamjamboise.com/play" title="Play">Click here</a> to register your team.</div>
<h2 style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
Shout out to the Old School and those that don't care</h2>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
At the end of the day, BAM Jam is about scoring more points then your opponent. And frankly, the Mikasa basketballs we use don't care what you are wearing. So if you aren't street savy or just don't really care what anyone thinks then you should be applauded as well. BAM Jam is for all ages and abilities. And that includes the ability to match your shoes and socks.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">From Friday at 5:00 PM to Sunday at around 10:00 PM you've got 53 hours to do the things that you have been looking forward to all week. </span></div>
<h2 style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
If you are a warrior, BAM Jam is your weekend</h2>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: 10px;">F</span><span style="font-size: x-small;">or weekend warriors looking for something unique and challenging, BAM Jam has you covered from the time you check in on Friday until your final game that could be Sunday afternoon.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">BAM Jam hosts "weekend warriors" to two days of basketball on the streets of downtown Boise, Idaho.</span></td></tr>

<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><strong>Let's start with the basketball.</strong> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">In the summer, every team is guaranteed at least 3 games. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: x-small;">You pick the style of play (men's, women's and co-ed options) and the level of competition you want to play at (adult men have three options plus height divisions) and we'll match up you for a chance at the title.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">We play on the streets so bring your grit. But if you bring your game, we'll take care of you. We've got multiple St. Luke's medical stations at the tournament with doctors and certified athletic trainers that are here to keep you on your feet. Wrap up that jammed finger, throw on some sunscreen, grab a POWERADE and get ready for a great time.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<h2 style="color: #dd7126; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
More than just basketball</h2>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">True weekend warriors are in it for more than just a few games. Wins are great, but the overall experience has to be something worth talking about on Monday. We've got you covered there too.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">While you are at the tournament, there is more to do then just play and watch hoops. Capitol Park provides not only shade but some of the best food vendors in town. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">And since we are located in the heart of downtown Boise, you can easily park near the tourney and get pretty much anywhere you need to go on foot. The Old Boise area provides multiple dining and shopping options. On Saturday Boise hosts a huge farmers market that is just one block away. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Saturday afternoon, BAM Jam hosts the nation's only Slam Dunk and 3-point competition on the steps of a state capitol building. It is unlike anything you've ever seen before.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Not just hoops...players and fans can grab some great food and some shade at Capitol Park</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Saturday night always features the official BAM Jam after party. Shower up and join other players and fans for some fun and drinks (all at special BAM Jam discount pricing, of course).</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">And then on Sunday afternoon bracket championship games begin. Whether you are still playing or just want to watch, there is a real buzz as teams make their final push to win the crown. At the intersection of Bannock and 6th Street you will find all the Elite Division Championship games loaded with current and former college and professional players. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">For the basketball weekend warrior, BAM Jam is something you'll definitely leave with a great experience and a story to tell on Monday.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><a name='more'></a></span><div>
<span style="font-size: large;">We highly recommend registering before March 8 for two main reasons:</span></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">If you wait until March 8 there is a $25 late fee</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">If you wait until after March 8 you might not get in at all!</span></li>
</ol>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This year, the tournament will take place at Capital High School. Capital is a bit smaller than where we hosted the tournament last year which means that we cannot fit in as many teams as we have in the past. <a href="http://bamjamboise.com/play">Click here</a> to register your team. </span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Our goal is to truly make the spring BAM Jam, presented by Treasure Valley Ford Stores, the best weekend of basketball in the northwest. Here are a few things you can expect at the tournament in addition to playing your games:</span></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">In between games, players and fans can hang out at the Northwestern Mutual Player's Lounge. The lounge will have big screen televisions set up so you can watch all the NCAA tournament action and keep up with your brackets</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Grab a bite to eat at one of our fantastic food vendors. Whether you want to grab a quick slice of pizza or enjoy some slow cooked home made BBQ, we've got you covered.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Anyone can try the 3-Point Challenge. For just $2 you get 30 seconds to hit as many 3-pointers as you can. The top players will get to compete in the finals for a chance to win it all.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Check out the different vendors and what they have to offer. BAM Jam will feature some relevant and interesting businesses that basketball players and fans will really enjoy.</span></li>
</ul>

<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Workout #3 - Developing Lower Body Power</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The primary uses of lower body power in basketball:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Boxing out </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Elevate on your jump shot</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Elevate to contest shots</span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-size: large;">With great power in your lower body you are going to be able to improve your ability to box out and get more rebounds, get off better shots by getting more elevation on your jump shot and be able to contest more shots at the rim on defense.</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">*Below is a short video that explains the exercise and gives an example of how to do it. </span><br />
<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Exercise: XP Pause Squat</span></h2>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Similar to a regular squat, the XP Pause Squat incorporates some basic techniques and points of emphasis:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Bar - the bar should be on your scapulas, below your shoulders and NEVER on your neck.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Stance - heels are shoulder width apart and feet are flat on the floor pointing forward.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Knees - should point the same direction as your feet. When you squat they should never go out past your feet.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Grip - use a medium grip (not too close, not too far apart). Remember, your back should support the weight, not your hands.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Chest - keep chest up, shoulder blades are squeezed back.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Head - keep your head in line with your spine. Look straight ahead. You shouldn't be looking up or at your feet.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Breathing - inhale on the way down and breath out as you explode up.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig3fQrIbMuuPA61BxCRR9ulDjMz2UCsnQ9RkPnzHWZmioOh-DV-n5TH_GdtUGEUItD2-I246F0blh0EACgO98DPt9av1JFni15AQqxqTjTJV8E0jNlv69KAy_sPap5b73icz13rSQCufU/s1600/develop-basketball-lower-body-power.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="developing lower body power basketball" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig3fQrIbMuuPA61BxCRR9ulDjMz2UCsnQ9RkPnzHWZmioOh-DV-n5TH_GdtUGEUItD2-I246F0blh0EACgO98DPt9av1JFni15AQqxqTjTJV8E0jNlv69KAy_sPap5b73icz13rSQCufU/s1600/develop-basketball-lower-body-power.png" title="Developing lower body power basketball" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Jason Ellis explains how to develop lower body power for basketball and how to properly do the XP Pause Squat exercise</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Performing the exercise</span></h2>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The first time you perform this exercise, do not use any weight on the bar. Perfect the technique first.*</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Keeping your body aligned (feet, hips, knees and shoulders) put your weight in your heels. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Squat down until the crease in your hips goes below your knees. Parallel thighs is not deep enough. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">At the bottom of the squat, hold the position for 3 seconds and then explode upward so that your feet slightly leave the ground. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Complete 3 sets of 10.</span></div>
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="1" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lJZFA9xs0dA?rel=0" width="560"></iframe>
</center>
<center>
</center>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Duration and feel</span></h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Between each set, take a 45-60 second rest. From start to finish the exercise will take you about 8-10 minutes. Your hamstrings will begin to burn on the second and third sets. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">When we took a poll back in December, "Developing Core Strength" was one of the top answers to the question "What element of basketball training are you most interested in?"</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">So we worked with athletic training expert, Jason Ellis, co-founder of Rock and Armor, to give you an exercise that you can add to your workout. Jason is a professional trainer and a former professional basketball player that has played in the NBA D-League and overseas. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>

<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Workout #2 - Developing Core Strength</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The primary uses of core strength in basketball:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Finish around the rim </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Maintain a proper defensive stance</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Offensive and defensive post play</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Rebounding through contact</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Strong foundation on screens</span></li>
</ul>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Jason Ellis explains the 20-50-10 exercise and how it will help develop your core strength for basketball</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;">With great core strength you are going to be able to take a hit and still finish at the rim, maintain your defensive stance when you a defending on the ball, hold off your defender when you are in the post, maintain your position when you are defending the post, get more rebounds in traffic and set better screens to get you and your teammates open for better shots.</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">*Below is a short video that explains the exercise and gives an example of how to do it. </span><br />
<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Exercise: 20-50-10</span></h2>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">There are three phases to this exercise.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Phase 1 - Start with a bumper (rubber plate) at the weight of your choice. The example uses about 10 pounds. Lay flat on your back with legs straight in the air, holding the plate with your arms locked out straight.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">With your arms locked straight, reach up and try and touch your toes 20 times. You want to really emphasize getting your scapulas and shoulders off the ground.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Phase 2 - Immediately move from Phase 1 to Phase 2. Transition by keeping your legs straights and moving them down nearly to the ground. Keep them about 1/2 inch off the ground. Sit up and lean back with your arms slightly bent and rotate your truck while keeping your legs straight. Rotate 50 times (25 on each side).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Phase 3 - Immediately move from Phase 2 to Phase 3. Bring your knees to the plate (fetal position) while remaining on your gluteus maximus . Extend the plate and your legs out at the same time while keeping your balance. After extending out, return to the starting position and repeat for a total of 10 reps. </span></div>
</div>
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="1" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yeAZmkeDnCY?rel=0" width="560"></iframe></center>
<center>
</center>
<span style="font-size: large;">The exercise should take no longer then five minutes to complete two sets with a rest in between. You should feel it in your front abdominals, side obliques and lower back.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Modifications: you can adjust the counts as you see fit. For a reduced workout you may try 10-20-6. For an increased workout increase your amounts to 30-60-20. Keep your middle count even so both sides get equal repetition.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
